  Job Description  
JOB PURPOSE: This is a hands-on role within the Corporate & Partner sales unit to support the business by devising technical solutions to deliver services that increase sales, and by assisting during the sales process with customer engagement from pre-sales to completed submission, delivery, and review. The role is customer focused assisting Viatel sales team position and sell our connectivity, cloud, telephony and security solutions into our customers and perspective customers.


• Product and service design, development and documentation from both a technical and commercial perspective.

• Ongoing innovation of new services and solutions, and refinement of existing portfolio

• Productising technology solutions to facilitate Sales and Customer understanding and streamline rollout to market.

• Expert on positioning Viatel Cloud compute and storage products

• Assessing emerging technologies and trends, refine existing portfolio and develop new services and products to meet current and future opportunities.

• Provide technical assistance and solution development to the sales team and clients

• Assist in qualifying the prospective client's suitability for solution offerings.

• Facilitate the design and collation of tender and bid responses.

• Project manage and guide solution implementation and performance post-sale.

• Facilitate development of inter-departmental processes and implementation to support above activities

• Formulate, develop and monitor internal and vendor SLA’s.

• Provide training and support for company, customer and vendor personnel.

• Liaise with other business units on sales, projects, and solution development

• Work with all levels of employees to promote project management methodology

• Develop the standard inputs available to Sales for presentations for customers and deliver in-house and client training materials and programmes

• Creation and review of technical marketing material

• Other projects and responsibilities as they arise

• Develop hands on relationship with key Viatel customers “trusted advisor”

• Understanding of the private/public cloud product market and ability to position with customers


• At least 5 years’ experience in IP and telecoms solution development or implementation

• Experience with relevant technologies: fixed wireless, satellite, ADSL, IP, VPN, MPLS, Layer 2 and 3, VoIP, network management, hosting, server solutions

• Strong understanding of Telecoms and ISP industry, backbone networks, technical product evaluation processes, emerging technologies, and related landscape

• Excellent tender and proposal writing experience and success (candidate will be required to show example work)

• Ability to bring customers on cloud migration journey

• Strong business case modelling and large quotation experience

• Strong Project Management and documentation abilities

• Comfortable discussing technical solutions with customers

• Familiarity with basic sales skills

• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

• Strong understanding of Cloud computing and Infrastructure/Storage as a service

• Strong understanding of Cyber Security and next generation firewalling services

• Familiarity with Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and similar applications
